MEET OUR ANIMALS
In addition to our wildlife rehabilitation work, we are also a forever home to over 115 rescued animals who can’t be released back into the wild! Each one has been saved from situations of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or the illegal pet trade. Here at the sanctuary, they now enjoy peaceful lives filled with love, safety, enrichment, and healthy, nutritious diets. Every animal is treated like family, and we are honored to give them the care and kindness they’ve always deserved.

My name is Chewy and I am a dromedary camel! I was rescued from a camel farm where I was being bullied by other camels so I was sent to live at the Outpost when I was only 6 months old. Now I am the BIGGEST resident in the entire sanctuary but I am still a kid at heart! My favorite thing to do is steal the hose from my caretakers while they sweat in the sun.

My name is Sabal and I am a Florida panther! I came to the outpost when I was just a baby because somebody thought that I'd make a good house kitty. Sadly, they removed my claws so I was not able to return to my natural habitat. But that's okay because I am the queen at my new home. I have servants- I mean caretakers- that prepare my food EXACTLY how I like it, or else.

My name is Zulu and I am a Grant's Zebra! I was brought to the Outpost after a family bought me from an auction to use me for horseback riding. NEWSFLASH- you will never ride me. I like my home now, I eat ALL DAY, and I made some new friends like Chewy the camel. My favorite part is that I am feared by all of my caretakers. I like to keep them on their toes.

My name is Rex and I am an American crocodile! I am what people call a nuisance crocodile, apparently, living in the middle of the road is illegal or something. Anyways, I have the best life here at the Outpost. I get a naturalistic diet to make sure I stay a strong and healthy croc. I like to do my own enrichment that consists of hiding under my ramp and watching caretakers panic as they try to find me.

My name is Split-Jaw and I am an American alligator! I live at the outpost with over 20 other "nuisance" gators. When I arrived, I was very skinny because my jaw was split in half and I was unable to hunt. After my surgery, I grew to be the largest alligator in the whole sanctuary! I'm kind of special because I have my own lagoon. My caretakers will tell you it's because I don't get along with other gators but they're just jealous.

My name is Freydis and I am a gray wolf! I live here with my two sisters, Arya and Raven. We were rescued from the cub petting practice. Because of this, Raven and I are very shy and nervous around people. Our caretakers are very kind and understanding of this, so they are always sure to make us feel safe and secure. Arya is not scared of anyone and she loves to steal the soap bottle from them and run around while they try and clean our pool.

My name is George and I am a red-footed tortoise! I live at the outpost with 30 other tortoises, they are also named George. We were all surrendered by owners who bought us without knowing how long we lived or how big we grew to be. At our new forever home, we are given diet that includes a variety of fruits, veggies, grass, and proteins and it is delicious every single time. Our favorite treat is freshly painted toes, preferably red.

My name is Fern and I am a Gray Fox! I live at the outpost with my brother Cypress, and we were actually both wild foxes. Another rehab center found us when we were babies, and once we were ready to be released they realized that we were so comfortable and friendly around people that we would be in danger in the wild. So they brought us here! Our days consist of belly scratches, good food, and pooping all over our fox houses.

My name is Swiper and I am a Red Fox! When I was a baby, someone bought my from a pet store because they thought it would be like having a puppy. When they realized that foxes do not make great pets, they brought me to the outpost. Here I am the star of the show and I bring excitement to every day. My caretakers always tell me how handsome I am, especially with my big winter coat. I think it's beginning to go to my head.

My name is Susan and I am an African Crested Porcupine! Someone thought they could keep me as a pet- yeah I know. Needless to say, I ended up at the Outpost. Here I get lots of enrichment and a very nutritious diet filled with variety. I am quite a moody porcupine, so I typically relax in my house until it is time for dinner. When I'm bored, I like to rattle my quills to make sure I keep the volunteers alert. This has stirred up some controversy.

My name is Cookie and I am a goat! I live at the Outpost with my friends Michael, Clyde, Sandy, and June bug. We're a small herd, but we're tight. When we were rescued, we were skin and bones. Our caretakers worked very hard to get our weight up and get us a clean bill of health. As a thank you, I always try to fill their day with excitement and spontaneity by squeezing into spaces that I can't get back out of. It's the least I can do.

My name is Princess and I am a Scarlet Macaw! I live at the Outpost with my best friend Sparky. People often buy us as pets and don't realize that we can live for over 70 years. Since coming to the outpost, I discovered that I have the potential to become a world famous singer, Sparky thinks so too. We perform unplanned concerts for our caretakers. My favorite song to sing is 100 decibal screams directly into their ears.
