Everglades Outpost
Wildlife Sanctuary

OUR MISSION
Everglades Outpost Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit, 501(c )(3) wildlife sanctuary and rehabilitation center dedicated to the rescue and placement of wild and endangered animals. Since being established in 1992, the Everglades Outpost has rescued wildlife and provided animal rescue services to the community for over three decades. Native Florida wildlife that are brought into or rescued by our sanctuary are rehabilitated until deemed fit for their return to the wild. Those that are deemed non-releasable due to injury or are nonnative species are provided a permanent home at our sanctuary where they receive daily care, enrichment, veterinary care, and nutritious diets. We currently care for over 115 permanent residents and over 16 different species of wildlife, all with unique back stories and specific needs such as Zulu, an adult Grant’s zebra purchased at auction by a family who intended to break her for horseback riding, Sabal, an endangered Florida panther who was on the brink of death after being declawed and kept as a personal pet, and Saw, an American alligator who suffers from severe metabolic bone disease due to being privately owned and housed in a bathtub with no access to a naturalistic diet. We pride ourselves in the privilege it is to provide these sentient beings with the safety, time, and compassion that they were so selfishly deprived of.

ENDANGERED SPECIES
Amongst the rescued wildlife that call our sanctuary home, are species that have been classified as endangered and threatened such as our Florida panther, American crocodiles, and Sulcata or African Spurred tortoises.

WILDLIFE REHAB
Everglades Outpost Wildlife Sanctuary is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native Florida wildlife. Receiving phone calls and walk-ins daily, we respond to hundreds of wildlife emergencies each year ranging from orphaned baby squirrels to adult American alligators who have been struck by cars. We are one of the few sanctuaries that accepts rabies vector animals and that are able to rescue or rehabilitate panthers, bears, alligators, crocodiles, and venomous reptiles as we are licensed to do so by FWC and USDA.
